Study of the candidates to the regional elections in Andalucia: Influence in Twitter
Social networks have proven to be a fundamental part of the battle to retain or capture votes in any electoral process – whether at state, regional, or European level.
The discussion generated in the digital sphere and, more specifically, on Twitter, is decisive for any political party wishing to influence the population, transferring its messages or triggering certain debates in line with each political trend. There is no doubt that social networks have already acquired an essential weight in any electoral campaign and that they are indispensable for any political organization regardless of its ideology.
Based on this idea, this report focuses on analyzing the use of Twitter by the candidates for the Andalusian elections of those political formations that are running on June 19, and which, according to the polls carried out until the beginning of the election campaign, are expected to obtain a relevant parliamentary representation. Twitter is the most influential social network in terms of the dissemination of the messages of the Andalusian electoral campaign.
Questions such as the presence on Twitter of the candidates for the Andalusian elections on June 19, who have been the most influential candidates with the most followers, or which parties have generated the greatest volume of conversation during the campaign, are some of the topics to which this report aims to provide answers.
